The Official City of Abbotsford Tartan is composed of six distinct colours that reflect the attributes and promote the City:
- “White” represents the city’s dairy industry
- “Red” represents the city’s strawberry, raspberry, cranberry and brick industry
- “Blue” represents the city’s aviation and blueberry industry
- “Green” represents the city’s university and luscious, fertile, green valley
- “Yellow” represents the city’s daffodil and corn industry
- “Black” represents the city’s blackberry industry, rail and road
The colors used in the Official City of Abbotsford Tartan also feature a full representation of the City of Abbotsford’s Coat of Arms colours. Furthermore, the tartan has a distinct pattern called a Sett, which is eight inches long and 288 threads. It was registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans in May of 2011. As part of the registration, the pattern can only be woven with the written consent of the Abbotsford city clerk’s office.
